If your a US citizens or any other citizens from another country. This is at custom when flying. I am planning a trip back to the US to get my passport renewed. Thank for any response

Short answer is yes!

09/30/24 @NewBrazil.  The airline in the US will want to see your passport and CRNM before they give you a boarding pass for your return flight to Brazil,  and Immigration will want to see them when you arrive.

If the only reason for your trip is to renew your passport, you can do that here, at the nearest US Consulate or US Consular Agency.  Instructions are on the Embassy website.  I renewed mine last time at the Consular Agency in Manaus.

My passport expired in 3 months and I also have a business apointment there in the US. I am leaving from Brazil so I asking what documents does custom ask for leaving from Brazil. When you have a permeant residency. I will be in the US for 2 to 3 months so it should be easier to renew.

rocade

@NewBrazil Do you mean it expires in 3 months or has expired already?

I had no problems exiting Brazil with little time left on my passport (but still valid).

If you need transit another country on your way out, it might complicate matters though. Third countries generally don’t allow entry with a passport that’s less than 3 or 6 months valid.

You don't go through Customs (Receita Federal) exiting the country, so they won't need to see anything.  Immigration (Polícia Federal) will want to see your passport; giving them your CRNM at the same time will probably avoid any questions.  Have a good trip.

Thank everyone who responded. My plan is to get a direct flight to Miami. I chexking out Fortaleza. i heard they have a direct flight ðŸ™

@NewBrazil I live in Northeastern Brazil and left from Fortaleza to Miami to get my FBI Background check. I am very partial to seafood (New Englander) and fell in love with the Legal Seafoods in Miami Airport, but apparently, they are no more.

Flying to and back from a trip with my husband, I handed the Brazillian authorities my US passport and my CRNM both ways, and they looked at both of them both times. Definitely show both.

Flights to Miami are currently being rerouted due to the incoming hurricane Milton. If you have a flight to Florida destinations in the next few days you better check them.
