Hi,

i got an offer letter from KSA riyadh but the company has been trying to start with my residency application and they got a response saying that Dominica does not exist as country on MoL system and only Dominican Republique does. Is that possible?

Cheryl

Hello Amk83,

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌà 😀

The company should reach out to the Ministry of Labor in Saudi Arabia to clarify the situation and ensure that Dominica is properly recognised in their system.

This is likely an administrative issue that can be resolved with proper clarification.

All the best,

They did reach out to Ministry of Labor and they keep getting a response that Dominica does not exist on their system, only Dominican Rep. What can be done? Anyone experienced a similar issue?

@Amk83 Hi t- good luck

To be honest you are in a better position to know if it is an official country. In your position I would ask where are they getting their information? For example is is an official ?)member of the (192?} recognised U.N. states?

Its possible you are facing a bureacrat hiding behind a 'system' . I would ask to speak to a higher authority as a matter of urgency.

let us know please

It is an official country of course. I even have a business visa valid to saudi. But issue is when i started doing the iqama process.

XTang

It is entirely possible.  Carribean countries are very small and have almost zero representation amongst the expats in the ME. This is probably why they never set them up in the system properly because they never had to deal withe expats from there. And the reason you have a business visa without any issue is because that visa is issued under MOFA which has a recognized list of countries on file.  For Iqama, you are dealing with work permit prior to visa being issued and that falls under MOL which probably has never had to issue a work permit to a carribean citizen.

Now, this is coming up, not because of the natives of those carribean countries but because of a lot of people who are already here in the GCC, got a passport from those countries via citizenship by investment and want to get an Iqama on that passport.

I have advised many people on this. SImple advice, if you already have an Iqama on your original passport, don't bother changing it to your new passport. It is not worth the hassle and you get no additional benefit. If that is your only passport then, well, you are in for a whole tour of saudi bureaucracy to get this fixed and I wish you luck.

Amk83

@XTang thanks for this reply. I do not have another passport. Do you think its possible to go into saudi with business visa and try fixing it from within KSA? What is the process for that usually.

XTang

No.  For Iqama you WILL have to leave to get it.  Business visa cannot be converted to Iqama while inside the Kingdom.
