AIMA appointment date is a past date

I applied for D7 residency visa (passive income) in September 2023, and after waiting for almost 13 months, I got my visa today. It is valid from 21-10-24 to 18-02-25.

I visited the appointment link on the visa, and it says "Appointment does not exist. Please check the typed code."

Then I registered on SEF website ([link under review]) with my visa number, and I clicked "Agendamento (Appointments)". There, I see below appointment:

- Concessão Título Residência COM VISTO DE RESIDÊNCIA (which means, "Granting Residence Permit WITH RESIDENCE VISA")

Loja AIMA - Alverca

02/09/2024

So, my appointment was actually more than 1 month before my visa was issued and delivered to me!

I clicked on "Novo agandamento" (New appointment), but the only appointment type is "Prorrogação Permanência" (Extension of Stay). There is no option for "Concessão Título Residência" (Granting Residence Permit). And needless to say, there are no available slots.

What should I do at this stage? This whole process is Kafkaesque and very exhaustive.

I suggest you go in person to an AIMA shop and complain. It was their mistake, they have to reschedule your appointment, not you.

@maeren69 hey, congratulations on receiving your visa. I would suggest to first speak to the Embassy which has issued the Visa. Please make sure you shoot off an email to them beforehand  alongwith digital copy connected documents i.e. copy of visa and screenshot of the appointment details. I am sure it will be sorted out.

@maeren69 going to an AIMA office won't be a good idea as they won't talk to you without an appointment.

You need to 1st send them an email (to gather prove) and then call the line to try and book an appointment.

Hallo everybody,

Has somebody expirience with working Visa application in Australia for Portugal?

Will be nice to get some feedback.

Regards,

CS

I talked with the embassy. They said that it is AIMA's mistake, and the embassy cannot do anything about it.

The problem is that, AIMA only gives appointment for "Prorrogação Permanência" (Extension of Stay). They do not give appointment for "Concessão Título Residência COM VISTO DE RESIDÊNCIA" (Granting Residence Permit WITH RESIDENCE VISA). Normally that appointment is printed on the visa. My situation (printed date prior to visa date) is unique. I am sure I will not be able to explain this situation on the phone and get a "Concessão Título Residência COM VISTO DE RESIDÊNCIA" appointment.

I am really speechless. Waited for 13 months, and here we are!

@maeren69

Do not be disheartened, it's ok. The embassy should have sorted it out themselves, they are the ones to issue the visa. Anyhow, maybe it's beyond their charter of responsibilities.  There is an AIMA contact center at  Álvaro Coutinho, 14

1150-025 Lisbon. You don't need an appointment for this, just be there early in the morning. I would also suggest relocating to Portugal as early as possible.

@gauravsingh615

Thank you very much! I will do as you suggest.

@gauravsingh615

I went to the AIMA contact center at  Álvaro Coutinho, 14 1150-025 Lisbon. They say that they do not give appointments. They told me to call or email AIMA.

Hello

I had previously signed up with SEF before it changed and when I checked recently I have an appointment scheduled at AIMA II in February, for Concessão Título Residência COM VISTO DE RESIDÊNCIA. Is this just for information about scheduling another appointment at AIMA?

Any help appreciated, thank you

JohnnyPT

@debsS, Hi.

SEF was abolished in October 2023 and replaced by AIMA. So it's ok, you just need to go to the appointment with AIMA that day.

hello all

I’ve been like the rest sending emails to AIMA, through the general email geral@aima.gov.pt. Just to clarify please is this the correct email? On the site there use to be a form that i simply filled in but this was taken down yes? And I don’t have an account with AIMA should I ? I have a temporary visa that has run out obviously.

Thank you for your assistance please

@JohnnyPT

Thank you for the reply. I was just wondering if anyone else had had an appointment at AIMA II in Anjos and what to take along at the appointment.

Many thanks
