Leaving Turkey (no plans)

Many people complain that things are more expensive (for expats), this is of course true, we see that every week and taxes and Aidat are increased (massively). I do understand and more importantly accept (is the grass more green in other countries??).

I saw an article (that especially Russians) are leaving Alanya (Mahmutlar) and we notice that (perhaps good. but the locals are divided (in my view perhaps better to have residents to spend money (restaurants, hamam, alcohol, tabasco (difficult to get nowadays and I HATE Metro))

Restaurants are good when they are around and we visit them frequently, MMM is there, not always with products we like (eg tomato juice is often not there, tonic water is not there, more importantly sharp sauces are not there)

Simple considerations and nothing to complain.

We came from a village in Hungary (being Dutch lived in Netherlands (obviously), UK, Luxembourg and Hungary, the biggest advantage now is no (or almost none) insects, also proximity of  infrastructure (almost everything) is a very, very big plus.

The cost of living has certainly gone up in Turkey but that is happening worldwide.  High costs for food and everyday items are a major point of contention affecting many families here in the USA.  People are having to cutback their expenses to fit their budgets.  This is similarly happening in Europe.  To illustrate my point, look at this from the World Bank Group.  It provides an interactive way to view inflation data comparatively between countries for selected time frames.

Personally, I think more than anything, the high quality of life is the biggest draw for living in Turkey.  Many aspects of life in Turkey are lucrative and desirable.  Upon returning from a visit to Turkey one year, my neighbor told me I looked invigorated and happier (and slimmer).  Yet despite the rising cost of goods in Turkey in dollar terms in recent years, the cost of living in Turkey is still lower than in the US and many other countries.  I can't wait to call Turkey my new home.

Sorry Gino to give a comment, economic situation in Turkey, (in my view) you should buy (and move now) difficult decision though (but do you realy need income??)

So far we have been lucky (and we will probably be in the future (EU and enough funds)). For newcomers (also from the US might be more be difficult (I do not know).

Rules change so quickly; you might assume this or that, but this can be different in a few months time.
