Selling a car which is on finance

Post new topic

Hello fellow expats,

I have a 2023 mitsubishi outlander bought through SNB with 5 years lease. I would like to exit and move back to India.

The car was purchased in February 2024 with a 10k down payment.

What are the options?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same situation.

They gave 3 options.

1st is to pay full and sell the car.

2nd is to find a person to transfer the list. (Details to be shared below).

3rd is to terminate the contract which the bank will auction the care and the difference on your settlement and the car auction price will be shouldered by you. Example your car early settlement is 90k and the bank auctioned the car for 60k. Then you need to pay the 30k difference for your name to be cleared by the bank. Take note it will take time for this process.

Transferring the loan to someone continuation:

Process is they will request to cancel or terminate your insurance contract. If there is a penalty then you will pay.

The buyer/ person to transfer to must have a SNB salary account  and the salary should be 10k bracket.

The buyer need to pay the processing fee.

The buyer needs to pay the 15% vat upfront for the overall price.

The buyer will need to pay 5% down-payment or 10% if salary bank is non SNB

Process will take a couple of weeks to be done.

Mine still on the process.
