Teaching Jobs

Post new topic

Hi

My wife is a headteacher in the UK for the last 20 years. We have applied to a lot of international schools for leadership roles has well as teaching positions but we are not getting any responses. Do they tend to just fill in positions with experienced international school teachers or teachers from their own groups ? We would have thought that with her experience some schools might at least have spoken to her.

Thanks for any advice.

Your expected remuneration as not living in Thailand, not living in Thailand which will need disclosing financial information for your entry visa they are hesitant to give, limited Thai speaking abilities and then again you do not live in Thailand.....no.address no physical meeting to see who you are

Hello !

When looking for a job in Thailand, nothing beats human contact. In addition, many people are already on the local job market of education, with good skills, bilingual or more, etc.

So on the one hand, a first piece of advice would be to come to Thailand (if not live there year-round), and on the other hand, the second would be to take into account that without bringing additional skills compared to other candidates already well integrated in the country, the chances of getting a stable and well-paid job are quite low.

Good luck, anyway !

Most schools in Thailand require a teaching license from Kurusapha or at least a temporary teaching permit. You probably don't have either. Also, when these schools look to fill positions they look for teachers already in Thailand with experience teaching Thai children. This is much different than teaching students in the UK. The schools prefer teachers who are compatible with Thai culture and Thai teaching behavior.

So according you there will never ever be anyone eligible for a teaching job other than from the existing teachers guild in Thailand...

They look within Thailand first. They that doesn't mean it will never happen, it means it's unlikely to happen unless the schools cannot find anybody currently in Thailand. As of right now, there are many foreign teachers in Thailand so it is very low probability that a teacher outside the country will get looked at.
