Of course, why not?

As pensioners, you can also qualify for the NLV, if you want a residence visa that lets you stay longer, should you choose to. You'd need 2.5k euros in pension (or 30k euros in savings) + health coverage (S1 from UK) + a place to live (your rental contract).

Have a look at Idealista for an idea of what kind of property you can rent for your budget in Benidorm (or elsewhere, if you fancy a change of scene).

Dear Bazand

Please let me know details about the accommodation.  I would like to shift to Spain and enjoy my retired Life with some job activity.

Best Regards

If you stay 12months consecutively, you are considered a resident and must pay taxes.

I believe that you rent you only need a NIE (which is a tax id number, NOT a visa.  Although it appears as the unique identifier on a tarjeta de residencia.

Prior to getting our NLV, we rented an apartment so that we could submit our application with a contract.  It was 5 months from that time until we landed in Spain. No problem.

Now, staying in Spain for 12 months without any sort of visa may be difficult.

I believe an Eu resident can do this,  by registering. But if you are a UK national only, that's not an option

As someone mentioned, an NLV would do it.

Spain still has the Golden Visa, where if you invest more than Eu 500k, like buying a piso or house of more than Eu 500k, you get ability to live continuously.  I am not sure about the other details as I went the NLV route.  I looked at it briefly, seemed like one still needs to show proof of income so there was little difference in the two; other than the investment cost.
