Seems like you have the good life and I am sick of being taxed in Canada and United States! I will be coming for my first visit to Panama February 25th for a week to taste the waters and see about living there. I am retired, well traveled and enjoyed Costa Rica several times so think I'm not far off in moving to Panama. My husband passed away a few years ago but I have a close male friend who is interested in joining me in Panama and will be coming on this trip as well. I'm wondering if anyone is brave enough to put us up for a night as we travel around Panama to see where we would like to live. I summer in Canada and winter in Florida. I have three dogs and I rescue dogs and re house them in good homes. I love gardening and I am especially fond of orchids. My friend is a carpenter and a very good one at that, which I'm sure will be helpful when we get there, hopefully in the next year. If anyone has any advice for us that would be fantastic and we would really appreciate it. We are excited about the move but I just have to get my ducks in a row first. Looking forward to hearing from somebody. Jill

If you have no idea of where to go, I would recommend El Valle de Antón and Boquete, 2 of the coolest climate locations in Panama where you can adapt easier and there's a good Expat community.

Other places to go would be Bocas del Toro or Coronado if you like beaches and the life around touristic places with lots of movement.

If you come in February, remember that Carnavales are happening from March 1st to 4th, which are the biggest craziest festival country-wide and all transportation options are a little hard to get.

I'd recommend you to get a ground transportation to move around El Valle de Antón or Coronado or even to go to Boquete.  In Panama you can move around by buses or cars but I'd recommend not doing so on the first try.

my local girlfriend is a part time travelplanner... if you message me your wishlist , dates and budget, i can ask her to plan your itinerary. Saves a lot of stress in looking things up, like rental car vs uber, places to stay, and visit...

@Rush Alvarado

Thank you for that information.  We will be doing a lot of driving to see where we like best. We leave for Canada Mar 4 so I will be sure to be closer to Panama City on the 3rd so I don't miss my flight back!

@Rush Alvarado

I pushed send too soon. My second day we will be going to Anton Valley and I am interested in that area as well. Another person mentioned that area to me and Coronado. I don't like cities and I would like a little bit of land on the river so I thought I would look above Coronado and I will be looking all over the place as I spend the week driving around Panama. I thank you very much earlier I hope with us and if you have any more suggestions that would be great on any topic about Panama. Gracias. J.
