If you come from a place where tipping is optional or not so frequent, you will be surprised that in Peru, especially in tourist areas, tipping is a highly appreciated gesture, although not always mandatory. In restaurants, it is common to leave between 10% and 15% of the total bill. This also applies to taxis, tour guides and some hotel services. Although it is not something that is strictly required, it is a way to show your gratitude for good service.
