Dear Friends,

since we are so many foreigners in Bulgaria, why don't we use each other's skills and knowledge?

let's just try to give a hand and reduce labor and the cost of work except material is on the owner of course.

I am guessing it's a good idea for those who are new and wish to get equipments and tools from the ones that are already in Bulgaria for years.

we definitely need some help and it's going to ease the process of settling down for lots of us.

Best regards

Joseph.

For your idea to work, that would very much need to be organised on a local level, Joseph. Are there expat Facebook groups for the area you live in?

Unfortunately you might find that quite a few of the more established expats moved seeking a quieter, lower-stress life or are older folk with health issues, and so might not want to be involved in such a plan.

I personally think it’s an extremely valid comment , would love to help others and would love others to help me .

josephsaad44

I am fortunate that I do not have FB😉

nevertheless I think it was a good idea for so many on this topic.

it does no harm if anyone needs my help or vice-versa.

I am not in Bulgaria yet but I do have a house in Lovech area.

if ever I will be glad to help.

best regards

Joseph

A good idea indeed, maybe a listing could be compiled somehow of needs and services and locations. I often help my neighbours and another expat locally that I know whenever I can, only the other day I was asked if I could move a truck load of soil and spread it for them over their garden with my digger, always ready to help if I can and able to..took an hour and a half to do and when they offered to pay me I think they were shocked when I turned it down. I always say it’s another golden brick in heaven if and when you help others.

It’s something when our shack is finished, if ever that is, that I would like to do more of and have some ideas to utilise my classic cars to raise funds for good causes somehow in the future. Well take care all Rgds Ozzy.

@Sharonprice252

we are here on earth for a good purpose, helping, caring, loving, and of course one day we are going to need someone for a help.

I am 1 hour 20 min from sofia towards veliko turnovo.

at the moment my house is abondened.

I was in contact with a British builder that live around for 7 years, he had come to the property to give me a quote which to hard for me to spend. I made him go crazy with my questions around what should I do first the horse barn the house the land and so etc.... seems like he wasn't able to accept it since I was very limited on a budget.

hope I could find something cheap for the summer to put on my land and work my way slowly.

@Ozzy183a

it is certainly a great idea if i have to look into it deeply.

I am looking forward for it.

I can't say I have a profession but I have good hands in doing things, like cooking middle easter food, gardening, I love to design and have many talents, apart from being working with diplomats for over 30 years as an administrator and logistics and an Ambassador security driver, had many awards recommendation letters had a special security driving course in West Virginia Washington DC, drove Senators congressman and so many.

I hope your idea works for you! It's good that you already have some interested people.

I suggested the Facebook groups because though I rarely use it, in the past when I've looked (for example a friend sends a link to something there) they tend to be more local, while members here are spread across the country. But I also prefer to stay off Facebook.

I will happily help locals in my village or expats nearby if there is something I could do for them, but travelling across the country to work on someone else's house isn't something I can do. If there are people here happy to do that, that's wonderful, and very much to their credit.

@janemulberry

I do agree with you Jane,

no point to travel for a long distance unless they are closeby.

I would do the same if I was close and give what I can of course.

once I will come to bulgaria most probabily April I will have to look for some expert for my water well and clean it up.

anyways many thanks for you adviceðŸ™

and Happy new year

I hope it all works out for you, Joseph!

Try to talk to your neighbours and the mayor's office, too. Use the village shop and cafe, as well and talk to the people there. These have been a wonderful source of help and support for us, because they want new people to move to the village and stay.

We are very blessed to be in a good village that welcomes expat incomers, where people of all faiths are co-existing peacefully as neighbours. I hope you find the same welcome in yours.

Neighbours are always great, and the longer you stay in the town friendships grow as you become more established. I've lived in my Austrian town for 16 years so only have ask someone and if they can't help, they will certainly know someone that does.

I actually know more people than my Austrian wife. As where you would drive everywhere, I would walk and meet people on my walks to the shop.

But we do have a town Facebook group where questions are asked all the time, so that's a great place to learn a lot gossip and useful information.

Maybe a lot different to Bulgaria, everyone speaks English here so was great when I first moved here and not knowing German.

I useful tip, if you see someone struggling with something jump in and offer to help it breaks the ice.

josephsaad44

my village is surrounded with nature and not so many people live here but only 15 all together and a lot of greenery lovely climate very quiet and I am very fortunate and happy for what I have, it's just happen to be that it was straight through the owner and not realestate agent.
