Navigating youth futbol landscape

Hello, we are planning to move to madrid this summer. we are coming from the US and have a 12 year old son that loves playing soccer. He is good for the US but probably just OK in Spain. The cursory research i've done online keeps taking me to boarding academies or very high profile clubs. We are not interested in that just a competitive team that trains 3 or more times a week with knowledgeable coaches and regular games. can someone point me in the right direction? is there a search term i should be using? maybe the name of the youth league?
