Moving to KL

Hi,

My family is moving to Kl soon (husband, 1.5 year old, 3.5 year old) and are looking for advice on schooling and places to live.

Can anyone offer opinions of living in Bangsar, Kenny  Hill, Mont Kiara or KLCC itself.

Can anyone offer opinions on Garden International School, CHildrens House in Ampang, Alice Smith or Australian International School.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi, My daughter goes to Australian International school and we are very happy with it. There's a great community in the school and they really help the children and family settle into KL life. Alice Smith and Garden also have a very good reputation...afraid i've never heard of the one in Ampang. Garden International school is a bit of a nightmare traffic wise to get to, so either live close by or use the school bus.
All the areas you mention for living are very popular with expats, but there are many other great areas to live in too! Just choose somewhere close to school or work with good transport links so you aren't constantly battling the traffic.

Hi, we transferred here just over a week ago, did a trip over a few months ago to look at schools and areas to live in, my husbands company has put us up in a serviced apartment for one month to give us time to find somewhere to live. We have since found a condo(Almaspuri complex)in Mont Kiara, very high expat area and we move in Oct 2nd. All the above schools (apart from Ampang as I haven't heard of it) are supposed to be excellent schools but we didn't consider them as they were out of our price range, we have narrowed it down to ELC sungai buloh or Tenby international which are 1/3 of the cost of the other schools but still offer an excellent education. Hope this has been of some help. =)

Oh forgot to say that we joined MANZA straight away and I have already been to 2 coffee group meet ups, lots of Aussies and Kiwis and they are a very friendly bunch, made me feel right at home.

I would suggest Mont Kiara, this is the ideal location for expats, easy access to KLCC / Bangsar. It have 3 international schools, the French School is on the North of Mont Kiara.

My child's preschool is good too, this is my personal preference of course. They have foreign children. The principal is British. This is a montessori school located in Damansara Heights.

The Children House - also have branches in Damansara Heights and Bangsar.

You may consider British International School of Kuala Lumpur (BISKL)

Desa Park City also have a new international school. This area also not bad to stay.

Hope is help.

Hi there
I am from Uk and my husband has been offered a job in KL, we are considering it but unsure of the costs for housing.  We have a 5 1/2 year old daughter and would probably send her to the British school so she follows the same curriculum as here.  Husbands job would be near petronis towers so would need to live somewhere convenient to that and school.  Could any one suggest areas and likely rents of property.  Also we have a dog, is it practical to bring a dog there?  We have lived in many countries before but not Malaysia so woud be interested in any views/info anyone can share.  Need to make sure its all doable before he signs on the dotted line!

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam66,

Most of the condo in M'sia not allowed the pets, may be landed property would be an ideal for you. A gated and guarded resort type houses: PERSIARAN Ritchie 327 is nice, closer to KLCC, local amenities, the nearest British int school is Sayfol international school.

Otherwise, will be consider Desa Park city or bandar Utama - landed property.

Other British intl schools for your reference:
1. International School Park City - Desa Park City
2. British School international kuala lumpur - Bandar Utama
3. Garden International school
4. Alice Smith International school

Or u may join the Facebook: IBU group and post ur question there, will have more local/expats feedback to you, :-)
