Hi everyone, I’m really stressed and don’t know what to expect with my visa application, so I wanted to share my situation and see if anyone has been through something similar.
My husband and I met online in November 2023, and we’ve been talking every single day since. He first came to Ghana to see me in June 2024, then visited again later in the year, and in November 2024, we got married during his third visit.
We applied for my visa on January 30, 2025, so I could visit him in Denmark for a short time. A few days after applying, I got a phone call interview where they asked me about my relationship, my husband’s family, and general things. Then, about two days later, I got an email saying my application had been sent to the DIS for further processing. Since then, nothing. No updates, no idea what’s happening, and honestly, I’m really scared.
Past Visa Refusal
Before we met in person, in December 2023, I applied for a visa to visit him in Denmark as a friend. That was denied because they weren’t convinced I would return to Ghana. They basically said that people from my country don’t usually travel just to visit a friend, so they doubted my reason for going.
What We Submitted This Time
This time, we made sure to provide everything to prove our relationship is real:
My bank statements (since I don’t get payslips, I included the account where my salary is deposited and another savings account).
An employment letter and a leave letter from my job.
A letter explaining why I’m visiting, my work, and that I live with my twin sister, who I also support financially.
My husband’s documents: his invitation letter, round-trip flight ticket for me, travel insurance, his bank statements, and payslips.
Lots of proof of our relationship—pictures of us together, call logs, screenshots of our conversations, our marriage certificate, and more.
Why I Want to Visit
I just want to spend time with my husband and get to know his kids, especially since one of them is only two years old and lives with him 10 out of 14 days. This isn’t a permanent move—I have a job I need to return to, and I also have personal commitments back home. We’ve thought about the future, but now is not the time for me to relocate.
Even though we submitted so much proof, I feel like they might still doubt my intention to return just because I’m Ghanaian. My husband even contacted them, but they only said processing could take up to 45 days and gave no real answers.
Has anyone been in this situation? Any advice or insights would really help because the waiting and uncertainty are so stressful.
