Post new topic

Hi, I'm moving to Melbourne alone next summer. Obviously it's a big move, but the only thing I'm nervous about is not having friends there! I'd really like to get to know a few people online before moving, if anyone else is moving soon, or already there and happy to meet and greet and make new friends, please let me know! I'm normal, friendly, single and I like outdoor sports and general socialising - especially with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine :-) I'm visiting in december, would love to meet anyone with a friendly face and some advice!

Hi guys, thanks for the replies!
DJP we should stay in touch, I'll be moving after you so you'll be the guy in the know by that time!
Thought I'd pass on my findings so far regarding the topic of finding friends before moving - I discovered meetup.com and have joined a bunch of Melbourne based groups. They have regular meetups and I'm going to a few when I visit in December so I can meet some people. It's also a great way of finding like minded people, and you can email them directly or suggest a meetup of your own that people can RSVP to. I think it's brilliant.

Still, anyone out there on this site, let me know if you want to meet for a drink between the 18th december and the 1st jan!

Hello,

I am looking to move to Melbourne within the next 1-2 years. We haven't started the whole visa process yet but my other half works in IT and should definately be able to obtain a visa. fingers crossed!!!
We went on honeymoon to oz in october (spent a week in Sydney and a week in melbourne) We both fell in love with Melbourne - St Kilda area so we are now considering taking the plunge!
I think leaving family and friends will be the hardest thing to do. I'm hoping to get more advice on lots of different things whilst we start this whole process and I thought by writing this post would be the best start!
Samantha - I hope you make lots of friends when you get to oz!! We should definately go for drinks if I ever move down under too!!

Anna. :)

Hi Anna,

So many people are emmigrating all the time - I love this!
I hope you have loads of luck with your visa, mine is ticking over but it's frustrating to wait so long!!
Let me know how it goes, and if you end up doing it then yes we shall meet for drinks - hopefully I'll be all settled by then and will know all the fun places to go :-)

Anyone else emmigrating? Let yourselves be known!
