Well here I am in Lima Peru on my 6 month quest to see if expat living is for me.  I have set about this in a very rational way (I think).  Try the countries that interest me for 2 months.  So here I sit in country number one Peru.  My questions are as follows

1.  I would like to see the 2nd and 3rd largest cities in Peru.  What are they ?

2.  When I visit Argentina I want to of course visit Buenos Aires and also Mendoza.  Should I consider other cities ?

3.  Any suggestions on what secondary cities to visit in Brazil ?

Thanks, alot folks now off to the Italian Art Museum (HEAVEN TO ME).

Why not hop across the river and check out Montevideo, Urugauy? It may offer a standard of living you don't find in Argentina.

Mar Del Plata I think is nice. A lot of people disagree with me, but I think it is a nice place. The prices are usually a lot cheaper than in Buenos Aires, and well it's just a good city to experience.

Come to the north of Peru - look on wikipedia to find out what you can see at Trujillo, Lambayeque, around Chachapoyas.

I am sure you have your answers about the other cities but I'll post in case any newcomers need the same info.

Peru's biggest cities:

1) Lima - 8 million
2) Arequipa - 1.2 million
3) Trujillo - 800,000

I have lived in Arequipa for ten months and it is starting to feel small.  However, it was a good entry point to Latin America for me because it is manageable and safe.  Now I think I am ready for Lima or Bogotá, and after that will be Brazil and Portuguese!
