Bridge visa

Post new topic

Maryland

Dear all,
Does anybody on this forum know if the ministry of interior is still issuing (as of December 2011) the so-called 'bridge visas'? This visa is issued because the ministry of interior cannot make a decision on the extention of a long-term residence permit within the legal time period (according to the law) of 30 days, not even within 60 days.
Thanks.
James

No, not related to the blue card system. In January 2011 the ministry of interior has taken over the function of the foreign police to extend long-term residence permits in Czech Republic. This has result in the outmost CHAOS. According to the law the ministry of interior has 30 days to make a decision on the above. However, some people are waiting for more than 10 months for a decision. At some stage they have issued so-called 'bridge visas' during these waiting periods before the "real" residence permit is decided upon. I would like to know if they are still issuing this bridge visas, and if the waiting periods is still more than 3 months.
