I imagine most are similar. If I have a friend staying with us, i need to write a quick letter just stating name nationality dates and a copy of their passport/iqama. For a day tie visit just put their name at the gate and they hand their iqama/passport when they get here. Just ask your compound manager what to do, most of the time they dont bite

You would just have to ask the compound manager about the policy that your compound will have.

Does that mean a person of opposite gender can't visit the western compound ?? Totaly unaware of this....!!!

Saimans it is not like that, anyone with Iqama is allowed to enter compounds wither male or female.

You're right Louise, also want to mention that Iqama is for foreigners only as for Saudi's the have ID of their country.

Does that mean any person male or female ( definitely except saudi) with a valid Iqama can enter the compound without any worries/issues. I have serious doubts about that... Pls correct me if I'm wrong !!!

It feels something is amiss in this !!!!

I have to tell the gate staff who and when they are coming and then when you turn up they are expecting you. You hand over your iqama or passport which ever is relevant and in you come, no cars allowed, they will be security checked and leave it in a visitors are, whic is inside the first compound gate. before the second. You cant just turn up and tell them you want to come in. You ave to be invited and I would have to be there with you, I can't be out shopping whilst your chilling out by the pool.

But yes male and female visitors can go on the compound so long as they are not saudi. Why d you doubt it?

I have doubts, because it seems against the saudi laws for mingling of 2 single people of different gender and the compounds are guarded by the National guards who happen to be sauids. So my concern was, is it legal or acceptable or a general practice !!

ok well doubt it or dont doubt it, it is what it is, cant tell you why it's special maybe someone else has more on why. I guess just general practice. This country and its people are a law unto themselves so why doesnt really get you very far out here it quite often just is
