Hi Hendrick,
You've only been here a couple of weeks,so you're going through what's called the "honeymoon phase" after moving to a new country. Just wait until you've been here for awhile, and you'll see/learn how oh yes the Chinese can be sooooo friendly while they try to rip you off/cheat you!! MANY other foreigners will say the same thing (as I have read)..words of warning! I have even read of Chinese saying "Do not trust the Chinese."

Cheers,
Larry

Jammer! Ek is hier vir al 4 maande en mis SA so baie! My Afrikaans spelling is terrible so I won't hazard trying to type any more than that  ;) What I found helped me a lot was going onto 5fm website and live streaming the station, felt so good to hear South African voices and news! I also miss braai's and wors and proper steak! It also sucks here because very few people know much about SA so you can often feel quite lost! But it does get better, and not constantly stressing about crime is bliss  :) Hope you find your feet soon! Sterkte!

Oh, sorry to everybody, I didn't realize we couldn't use other languages. I think coming from SA we're so used to all sorts of languages around us. Nobody is saying anything bad, mostly moaning about missing South African stuff like Klipdrift brandy and SA version of a BBQ. And it's just nice to see Afrikaans when you are homesick! Sorry if anybody felt left out! I won't do it again  :)
