contact the individual and they will come to your doorstep to collect or you can just visit their branch to give away the paper waste.

Hello all my friends including Suzan and Aayjay,

I could not resist the temptation of stepping into your conversation. No offence to the members, most of the members are emotionally motivated which of course is not wrong, it is a good starting point.

Recycling in Pakistan or for that matter any where in the world works on some simple arithmetic.

I will try not to use technical terminologies and but use simple words:

1) The labour cost of collection / sorting out of material,
2) Transportation cost (  price of truck , fuel, driver's salary,)
3) Cost of the processing equipment, depreciation, cost of borrowing from banks.
4) Customs duty structure on this machinery,
5) Cost of energy, fuel, electricity.
6) Cost of warehousing / rent per square foot.
7) Availability of sufficient market for the recycled goods e.g lead ingots, plastic granules, copper etc, after it has been produced.
8) Environmental regulations and how forcefully they are being  applied in your country,
9) Security and law and order situation of the proposed city.
10) Once you enter into recycling as a " business" many times you end up doing more damage ( in terms of carbon foot print) to the environment by using more fuel and energy in producing the  recycled product, since you objective now is not to save the mother earth but it is to make a profit.

This is a vast subject, involving complex analytical analysis and most current and up to date technology.

Now let us come to the two most important points,

a) In most countries you will face what we call  "Negative Economy" or "Law of diminishing returns" ie  THE PRODUCT YOU MAKE AT THE END WILL SELL FOR A PRICE  WHICH IS FAR LESS THAN WHAT IT HAS COSTED YOU TO PRODUCE". This means no business man in his right frame of mind will opt to enter into this business, This is where Government subsidies and international environmental funds come in.

b) Even if the International Environment and health and safety regulations are being ignored in Saudi Arabia, I will feel MORALLY and ETHICALLY committed not to contaminate saudi soil with Sulfuric acid or high level of Arsenic from recycling lead acid batteries.

In case any of you is really turned on on this issue, you know where to contact me.

I couldn't get any of the links to work from previous posts but found this list online.  I am looking for someone to collect from my office and even the hotel I am living at.  I haven't tried any of them yet.
