Accra without a car

Post new topic

I am planning on moving to Accra but cannot drive. Is this feasible? I will be working in Airport residential district. Is there a good place for me to live for public transport to city centre and to work or do I need to get a licence and buy a car?

Christine

Hi bajangyal,

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ! :)

I would suggest you to have a look at these threads on the Cars and transportation in Accra forum.

I hope other members will be able to advise you.

All the best,
Christine

If you are living in Airport Residential you are in a nice residential area with good access to all parts of Accra.
There are two alternatives for getting round without a car - taxis - which are readily available but are quite expensive. It would probably cost you GhC10+ to get to Osu. Then there are local minibuses - trotros - these too are plentiful and are very cheap but are often crowded and not very comfortable. When you arrive you could try managing on local transport and then consider getting a car if you find it too difficult.
