Jobs and childcare in LA

Post new topic

MrsMauger

Thanks for everyone helping on the "where to live front". We have some ideas of areas we want to visit to check out homes/schools.

Now we need to think jobs and childcare.

Husband has a few contacts in the US re interior architecture work (commercial properties) so will prospect direct but I work as an Executive Assitant at an ad agency (and previously at a large consumer publishing co) and would like any pointers on where to start to look for employment. Are there any specialist recruitment agencies for me to approach? I have looked online and seen a few on jobs on monster and indeed.com but can't seem to see anything else.

Next topic of help is childcare. We have a 7, 5 and 3 yr old. What are the costs for a nanny? Childminder? Do schools have breakfast club and after school club? Are the summer holidays a challenge to organise AFFORDABLE childcare. It would be great to see what the options are and at what costs (costs impact what kind of jobs both my husband and I wil be needing to get).

Fingers crossed I get some responses.:)

Hello MrsMauger.

Did you read the US PDF guide? It contains informations on work that will surely help you. :)

Thank you,

I'm not sure if that is a standard salary, but my friend who works as a nanny for a family with 2 children is payed $700 per week. But she does not live with the family, live-in nannies get less since they also get room and board.

What about an Au Pair?
