From what I gathered, I believe that the GOOD are plentiful, as there are a lot of nice places to live in Asuncion.

Carmelitas, Barrio Jara, Barrio Trinidad and Villa Morra are all high on my list.

Perhaps you remember me from the asada at Julie's house.聽 I am the fellow Canadian who rode her bike to San Lorenzo.聽 My land lady won a competition for an artist exchange.聽 She will be renting her family, 3 bdrm, 3 bathrrom,聽 house as of March. She will be in San Tiago for at least one year.聽 She would be happy to rent for much longer than that.聽 It is 5 blocks from Shopping del sol with all the buses associated with that location and one short block from san Martin and the buses associated with that location.聽 There is a small park within one block and Parque de Salud is probably a 15 minute walk.聽 It is safe and quiet.聽 I live in a little "house" which forms the cover for cars in the driveway.聽 Deborah Howitt please reply to deborahhowitt@yahoo.com if you are interested.聽 When will you be back to have a look?聽 I will be in Canada until the 12rh of Feb.

Barrio Carmelitas y barrio Villa Morra would be the best, particularly if you have young children. I would try to be close to either Shopping del Sol, or shopping Mariscal Lopez. The American School of Asuncion (ASA), or colegio americano, as it known locally is close to Shopping del Sol. The area around shopping del sol is also closer to the airport.

Thanks for the recommendation. Those neighbourhoods seem to be the ones we're zeroing in on. We'll see what lays ahead. We'll be staying at a nice B&B type hotel near Del Sol. Should be a great intro to our new life. Three weeks to go.
