Anybody there?

Post new topic

edanyel

Hello, my name is Daniel and I've just signed in to ask about this city and country because I'm deciding whether take a job opportunity there or not.
I'm from Argentina, this is my first post and to begin with, is there anybody from Latin America in this forum?
thank you.
If not, if there's anybody from anywhere who would like to tell me his/her reason to be there, I'm all ears.
Thanks again
rgds

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌà Daniel!;)

Harmonie.

Hi Daniel, Welcome to the Blog. :) Tell us more about yourself.

I know there are many Mexicans here on this Forum. Anyways, you wont feel lonely here.

Saudi Arabia has about about 30% Expats, who come here for employment / trade. Tax-free salary, which is usually 3-4 times their salaries in the home countries is the main reason why people come here.

For many the added advantage is that they can visit the two Holy Mosques easily.

Do read the posts on this forum for further details and feel free to ask questions.

Convey my regards to Messi, big fan ! :D

Alliecat

@edanyel  You might find more Latin Americans if you go to the Spanish speaking forum:  /forum/viewforum.php?id=2474
Good luck!

edanyel

Hi every one, thank you for your welcome Harmonie.

Ghanshyampdave, about me, I'm an experienced technician in petrochemical field, I'm about to reach my fifties next month, I'm divorced living in couple; with son(17) and daughter(24), my couple having two girls (16)&(25). Not sure of taking the job challenge I'm being offered, is not an easy decision to take.
I'm also a Messi fan although I liked Maradona as well.

Alliecat, thanks for the tip, I'll have a look there, anyway I'm posting in English to practise the language!

To all of you a big thanks, and yes, surely I'll have some questions from now and then!

Thank you again for being here!
Rgds from Argentina

You're welcome Daniel :)
Nice to know about your experience. Saudi Arabia is the place to be.
As your family prepares for your 50th B'day, you must be looking forward on the job offer. All the best :)

Alliecat

When you say 'living in couple' does this mean you live together but aren't married?

If you're not married, you understand that you can't bring her with you to KSA, right?  Also, you can bring your son (17) as family but not your daughter (24) as she is no longer a dependent.

edanyel

Alliecat you are right! we are working in that topic too. A piece of paper doesn't make any difference to us but might be a must in this case.
thank you

Alliecat

About your daughter, she could get those lengthy family visit visas, I am sure.

edanyel

Alliecat, thak you again, you're being very helpfull, as a matter of fact all the tips I've read from all of you have been discussed in family.
We are actually making a balance between pros and cons.
Around a month ahead I should discuss all these matters with my potential contractor.

Alliecat

Good luck ... and thanks for doing your homework (reading the forum!!)

Hola Daniel,

This place differs completely from our beloved continent, however, with a well defined plan and targets it's a good option economically speaking. I crashed here by accident but feel free to ask any doubt you have and I'll try to do my best answering them.

@Dave, There are not that many mexicans posting here but I appreciate your solidarity LOL

edanyel

Hola Juan!
Glad to hear from a Mexican guy!
I appreciate your opinion.
I'm a bag full of doubts!
So surelly I'll keep in touch with all of you!
Thank you!

Shame on you, Miss Alliecat: as far as I know there is one continent called America which is the 2nd biggest in the world, crosses the Earth from pole to pole and lies between the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean. Thus, our continent is also yours.

By now all the adventurers and cartographers who died proving this should be turning in their graves LOL.

ghanshyampdave

From Wikipedia:
A continent is one of several very large landmasses on Earth. They are generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria, with seven regions commonly regarded as continents—they are (from largest in size to smallest): Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.

Exactly.  North and South American are counted as two separate continents.

So fortunately, nobody is turning in his or her grave ;)

edanyel

Well, well, well, conversations always turn in something unexpected...
let me remind you my question was...why are you people there, in Saudi Arabia?:)

Alliecat, Juangcr, I don't have beloved continents, I rather love people living in them... any of them.

When I asked for someone from latin América it was just a matter of idiosyncrasy.

ghanshyampdave, Wikipedia's opinion is as important as yours or mine and it's not always right! (Of course this is my personal point of view)

Anyway, thank you for keeping the thread alive!
Cheers!
Daniel

I'm a qualified Chartered Accountant (equivalent to the CPA in USA). Have worked with KPMG & PwC in the past. I'm here for the following:

1. Money
2. International Work Experience
3. Travel the world & experience different cultures

When I got my job offer I was badly needing a change (Job & Location) because of boredom.

edanyel

ghanshyampdave, sorry if I'm missunderstood please remember english is not my mother language.

I do love you, but it has nothing to do with the place you're from or where you live.
I love you people just because you don't have the least idea who I am and, despite that, you are being kind and sympathetic, you listen and you answer, you give me your opinion, your time, and you're being very helpfull.
I'don't really care about continents, never did, I do care about cultures, ways of life, feelings, thoughts ...people.

I've got another questions now, if you allow me, can you tell me something about weather in Jubail???

Hey, I was only pulling your legs. I try to keep the discussions / forums humorous.
You are definitively better than me and many other native english speakers. Don't worry about it.

Sorry, I've never been to Jubail, so I've limited knowledge. There's massive industries all over that place, expect some pollution there. Also, you could check if you'll be living and working in Jubail Port City or Jubail Industrial City.
