Moving in with future husband

Post new topic

I've never been married or engaged before. I am 25 years old. Moving in with a boyfriend is a new thing to me. My boyfriend is 32 year old and Divorced.

Please suggest a very good method to handle money matters. My boyfriend earns more than I do. I have my own savings and he has his own savings too. We are both frugal. We are going to live together and we will be dealing with the following:

Rent Expense (Condo)
Car Rental Expense
Internet
Food
Travel Expense
and many more.

He suggested a method but I want to get opinion from others. Please help.

Oh dear me.
Open up bank accounts & equally pay the expenses.
Buy nothing just in case you get divorced & next 3 years do not make a babe.
You might as well do not get married.

Hi azumi,

It's really a discussion you should have with your partner but I think if you think about how much you each earn and pay towards your expenses in proportion to that, that is the fairest way to go about it. So instead of splitting 50/50 it might be that you pay 40% and he pays 60% etc. Cheers
