I put my voice with Kate...

Hi Kate29,

It's a great suggestion, but I would guess that Expat-blog hasn't got chat capabilities right now because it costs a lot more to operate the website when it offers chat.

I'm sure that Julien (the Founder) and the rest of the TEAM will study the idea carefully, like all great suggestions they get from members. Who knows, maybe they could even get a little more money out of the commercial advertisers if they go for the chat idea?

Let's wait and see what happens. I support your idea.

Cheers,

I Hope they will have chat here as it will be interesting and more fun as we get to know peoples closely from around the world :)

good thing I read this suggestion before I send my own opinion. I think it will be more faster in communicating someone than waiting the replies through PM's. So I second the motion hihihi.gogogo EB Team. we support you....:)

Yes, a chat will enable members to access other members for assistance. A handy tool especially for expats. There are many write ups on how to deal with different situations. Local assistance will advertise and FaceBook will buy up ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ!
Another notice which can be helpful is the quick help list of contact numbers (and persons) for all the help available locally including contact of all embassies and emergency numbers.
(hook up to local yellow pages :P)

I prefer this format to chat.  I type pretty quickly - not that I'm bragging - and I get impatient waiting around for whoever I'm talking to to respond.

This is not a chat. Shouldn't expect an instant reply.

I don't think you understand what I said.

Julien mentioned somewhere that it will be impossible to moderate chats! It is about moderating not money.
I don't know about others.
I get loads of Adverts from Dating sites (mainly directed by GooGle, even after I installed an adverts blocker)

I like the way you tell it and remind EXPATS that we are GUESTS in our HOST countries. I guess we need to live a little longer to get it.
Cheers mate.

These info you can find on the left colom under the business directory of your current country.
If there is not the info you need or want, you can ask on your forum to provide these info, and, you can add these info by yourself.

If you want to chat with someone, or want more contact you can ask if they give you their email/skype/FB/twitter adress or what so ever they use to stay in touch with them.

I did a quick check on the columns on the left marked "EMERGENCY". They are mostly BLANK!:(
A chat is a call. I am referring to a instant HELPLINE. Perhaps we are looking at different situations for chat.

No, I don't think so, if these items are blank then maybe you can provide this info to look it up somewhere else and put it on the business directory. And if you don't know ask on your local forum.
Sometimes life can be so simple ;)

To come back to my suggestion regarding chat, the emergencies helpline should be live to get online assistance.
When you dial 999 for an ambulance, you shouldn't be search further to get assistance. That is the idea of EMERGENCY assistance.
Perhaps they do it different where you living.:|

Primadonna

When I need emergency I don't go online but just call 199 directly on my mobile.

Please recheck that.
199 WON'T connect you to the EMERGENCY line if you dial by mobile.
Other countries use different numbers 999, 911, ...

I think I could have just saved your life :)

You have internet access with today's mobile devices.

You can search for EMERGENCY numbers anywhere in the world.
