Female travelling alone to India for the first time

Post new topic

GEmma1

Hi,

I am an Irish female travelling to India for the first time this dec 2012 for 3 weeks. I fly into Mumbai and for some of the time I have planned to volunteer in Pune and western ghats. I would like to travel and see and soak up as much as possible. I would like advice on where is safe for females to stay and  how to get get around? Also where should I travel to..and see in my time (mimimum one week)?I am on a tight, student budget.
I welcome any tips and advice:)

Thanks,

G

It is safe as long as you are very careful and dont talk to strangers :-)
One week is not enough to see all of India..,you should either focus on south or the north .....South has more greenry and beautiful landscapes but as you are from Ireland you would have seen that all your life..a good idea might be to see rajasthan , delhi and agra ....If you need more advice write to me on my mail id samir@getsholidays.com...cheers

Hi,

pl travel with your travel agent booked back in Ireland or with SITA travels or with some recognised travel agent. Females travelling alone in India is not advisable. Pl be careful and happy journey.

It will be exciting in Western ghats travelling but India is quite large and your one week schedule will not be enough....

Anyways all the best

Hello Gemma.

India is safe on most of the times...Don worry..

But need to be careful some times to strangers..

If u have time please visit pondicherry..A french coastal colony meant for europeans..

India is generally safe, The area around Western ghats is a good place to visit during this time of the year.
