College student trying to find a job

Post new topic

scarletmoon1234

I'm not a saudi citizen, but I study here in riyadh and have a lot of free time on my hands. Would it be possible to get a part time under the table- type job as a secretary or something in retail or whatever (not prostitution, not that type of girl :P. I could really use the money to help out my family since were kind of having a hard time. Thanks so much for any help x

If you're actually serious then yes, it's possible. But I'd recommend starting off without joking about prostitution. The emoticon after the joke doesn't help as well.

I'm definitely serious about it. It's just whenever I ask around people bring up prostitution and thats obviously out of the question. If you have any advice on how I can go about finding one of those jobs it would be greatly appreciated.

youngthegiant

For starters, stop talking about prostitution

scarletmoon1234

Chill out and stop taking everything seriously. Don't like my post? don't read or reply to it. Simple as that.

Ok on a serious note, you can even consider a part-time internship. Most companies offer a stipend and it's a great way to get experience and your foot in the door.

As for how to find an internship, you can ask people you already know. Or you can look up companies and try to find the HR person's email address and just shoot them an email. Or just walk in and hand in your resume.

Hi,

Is an internship offered to students is allowed in Riyadh? I have heard its against the law.

Yes it's allowed and no, it's not against the law.

Infact, some programs (such as IB in high school) as well as few university and college degrees have it as a mandatory requirement.

Try searching at recruitment websites like bayt.com, mihnati.com...

Correct me if I'm wrong but Scarlet wants to make money- how do you do that on an internship?

A lot of companies will provide a generous stipend, for example the larger FMCGs. To be honest I'm not sure how much people make working retail in Saudi, but the stipend can sometimes be pretty favorable for the interns.

How so?

I'm just using the assumption that working retail doesn't pay that well in this country, and under the table might be even worse.
