Moving to Eket, Jan 2013.

Hi All,
I'm moving to Eket sometime in January 2013, working for a construction company.
Any tips for life around that area would be appreciated. In fact, any information would be most welcome about living as an expat in Nigeria.

Thanks,
Mitch.

Hello Mitch,

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ! :)

Maybe you should ask more specific questions and do not hesitate to have a look at other discussions on the Nigeria forum.

Thank you,
All the best,
Christine

It is a fine place to stay. There are other expatriates there.
Cost of living is relatively high.If you are working with an oil service firm, please, socialise more with other expatraites.
Dont give out personal information to strangers.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Mitch,

I saw your post online. I am considering a job offer in Eket and was wondering if you had any advice / information regarding the place and how it is to live there.

Regards
Rudy

Hi Rudy,
I am no longer in Nigeria.
In regards to Eket, it's an OK kinda place. Shopping is expensive and choice is few and far between. There are some decent bars attached to hotels, quite acceptable.
I lived in a compound about 2 kilometres from Eket centre, so didn't have to much interaction with it's inhabitants.
It's a busy place, due to the oil industry.
Like most of Africa, you can never feel 100% safe, but by the same token, I never experienced anything bad.
Hope that helps a little.
Mitch.

Thank you Mitch. It seems that I will be accepting another offer in Dubai but thank you for the feedback.
