Hi guys
I happened to just have stumbled across this blog by coincidence, but I should say it was a great humor filled find! I'm from Namibia. A young environmentalist by career with a humanitarian heart.
I chose to come to Angola 4 months ago as I saw much opportunity as well as as a new challenge when I first came here for holiday in late 2008... After quiting my job in Namibia and coming here, I can now say that it has been a humbling experience. I've learned to appreciate more and humble myself after my experience here so far.
Nonetheless, it's obviously clear that just like any country Angola has its issues and like most poeple, I agree it needs a major transformation. I believe its evolving slowly, but surely it is. I'm no politician, although I can not deduce myself from politics as it is what governs us, no matter where we live but I surely hope that sooner than later the big shots here will smell the smoke before the country collapses under the wings of its so called 'democratic governance'!
Anyways, its a new year, a decade into the new millenium and my new year wishes for Angola is to see dramatic progress in sanitation and energy services, water availability, environmental integrity and very important, customer service in the public and private sectors. Oh ja! I couldn't leave out the political scene too...the big guys shouldn't be so greedy and uptight but more considerate with sharing the country's resources!
As for the expats, I wish all a great year filled with much wisdom and i guess patience to live here. May great friendships with awesome people be formed and may life be made much easier as we continue to share, grow and laugh together.
Thanks Julien for this lekker platform!
God bless you all,
Meky
