Renown

My family and I have lived in Normandy, France for 16 years.  Out two boys have started/are soon to start University here and we are considering selling our farm house and moving to an appartment in Bordeaux.  We have visited the city twice on holidays and are planning a house hunt in April 2013.  My wife and I both worked and living in the UK, from Edinburgh down to Southsea via London, so know what life in a city is like.  We have enjoyed the rural life of living in a small but growing French village, but have not spent a lot of time living in a an appartment in a big or French city.  Any pros and cons would be appreciated, especially an input on charges.  Thanks in advance, it looks to be a friendly forum from what I have read so far.

Hello ´¡³Ü°ùé±ô¾±±ð, Thnaks for the welcome.  I have already worked my way through the article you suggest.

I suspect its a bit warmer where you are than in a rather wet Normandy!

Hi, Hugues here. Originally from France (not far, family from Saintes and parents currently living in Angouleme), but currently living in the north of England.
Thinking of a move back to France and Bordeaux would be my city of choice to settle back in.
Anyone able to give any pointers for bilingual jobs over here? I've trained as a teacher in the UK but would be happy to work in other fields too...

hello hhhugues

It was so strange to read your post.
I trained as a teacher too, I live in the North of England and I am also thinking of moving to Bordeaux!
Good luck to you and who knows... see you in Bordeaux?! :-)

For the Teachers, I am attending BEM (Bordeaux Ecole de Management, soon to become Kedge due to merger) for dual master degree studies. They are currently building/doubling their facilities with an increase in 2500 students. They have a large international student contingent and we all attend French language courses. I do not know where they post jobs, but would believe they will be hiring professors.

Thanks BKaster, that's very useful information ! I'll keep an eye out.

Hi Camille, where abouts in the North of England ? I'm thinking of a move anywhere in the west really, but ideally near Bordeaux as I love the city and know people there. But as i can't afford the move without finding some sort of reasonable source of income over there first, it's not the done thing !
