Handyman

cadl1982

I'm looking for a handyman. Some English would be helpful, but it's not a deal breaker as long as he can help purchase a lock and install that lock on my door for a reasonable price.

What kind of lock do you need?

If it's a cylinder lock, it's absolutely trivially easy to do it yourself. Look here to see if it's a cylinder lock:

If it's a security lock, with a metal bar across the door, then it's a little more complicated.

Hello cadl1982.

Do not hesitate to post an advert in the Jobs in Hungary section. ;)

It's a security lock so I need a handyman.

You probably need one of these:

Best to ask your landlord in order to get permission. If you live in a block of apartments, then you might be able to get the person who runs the building to get someone in.  It won't stop burglars from kicking any door panels in if you have a weak door. The only way to do that is to reinforce the door frame and hope it will slow them down enough for someone to notice what is going on and alert the police.

It seems burglaries in large blocks of flats where kicking the door in are becoming more common. Someone attempted to get in on one of my relatives door the other afternoon but he has a metal reinforced door and they didn't succeed. Others in the block were not so lucky.

Yes, thank you for your concern. I've done my research and I know I need a hevederzár type lock. Everything has been checked with the landlord and management company - now I need a handyman. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi,

do you just need to change the cylinder or the whole metal bar has to be installed?

Just curious. I guess has been resolved by now.

Looking for someone to install the entire thing.
