men have over inflated egos as it is, if women flattered them even more with proposals it would only convince them they are as important as they think they are....

Logically, a woman should offer a men her hand and heart. For a men, marriage is associated with a loss of freedom. Conversely woman finds freedom, becomes a full-fledged mistress of the house and replaces the man's mother, taking care of him.

Although, it is still a tradition that a man proposes for a woman, however, for many persons women/men it would not be surprising if a woman proposes. As in United Kingdom, Ireland and Finland they have the same custom that a woman can propose on 29 February in a "Leap year".

after reading the replies of these folks, i am quite  amazed how differently they pull towards themselves

my answer:
it's because women are emotional and men are logical, but once a man finds his girl and truly loves her, he don't want to lose that girl because of his shyness or confusion. he'll take his chances and risks to get rejected or what, but what he thinks is logical that if he won't ask, later he might be blaming himself that there was a chance which he didn't avail.
anyway that's the two different nature of these two same-specie-different-creature. . .
