Moving to Seychelles

Post new topic

Jenrew

Hi, it looks like we are moving to Seychelles in September.  I am looking at accommodation for my family, are there any areas we should avoid?

Christine

Hi Jenrew,

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ! :)

You may post an ad in the housing in Seychelles section.

Thank you,
Christine

Somewhere near to Victoria or Beau Vallon would be preferable, avoid Mont Fleuri area as I been told there's alot of drug addicts and stealing is common.

Hi Jenrew, I'm moving to Seychelles shortly as well, it's crazy how little information there is on this topic =( I cannot find any expats community or anything...
What are you intending to do in Seychelles?

yem001

hey guys, jst wntd to know if there is anyway I can school and work in Seychelles.

Jenrew

My husband is taking a year off with our three children and I will be working in Victoria.  We are looking for a house with a pool, 3/4 bedrooms and reasonably close to the International school.  Really looking forward to a change in life style.

RockyRaccoon

Oh cool, sounds like a nice change =)
Have you been to Seychelles before?

Jenrew

No we have never been to Seychelles before but I have spent some time in Jakarta so I am hoping the weather is similar, but with a lot less people.  What is technology like? Will we have broadband internet access in our rented house?

RockyRaccoon

I havent been to Seychelles either and also interested in the situation with Internet.... I heard there are problems with it and according to websites of internet providers it's quite expensive(

Jenrew

So Rocky, what is attracting you to Seychelles?

RockyRaccoon

Jenrew,

I've been to Mauritius for an internship and completely fell in love with the Indian Ocean and the climate and the nature and everything. My boyfriend and I are extremely tired of severe Russian weather conditions and are not satisfied with our current jobs so we decided to take our chance and start enjoying life not only during holidays but every day of it =)

Hi,

peejay407

... it depends what you want from where you are living, if you want near the school I would go for the north of the island, beau vallon, glacis, machabee, if you're willing to be further away and want a quieter lifestyle the south is beautiful.

peejay407

oh and regarding the internet, you can get broadband, wireless or use a dongle but it is problematic and expensive. That's island life for you!:)
