Emigrating from UK to SA

Post new topic

Hi All

My long term partner and I are seriously thinking of emigrating to SA as we have fallen in love with it.  Some of his family have already emigrated there some years ago - his Mother, Father, Brother, Uncle and Cousins so we are confident in our support network.

He is a trained Commercial/Industrial electrician and I am a Personal Assistant are main worries are whether we will be able to find work easily and a safe place to live.

Any tips and thoughts on areas and opportunities?

All help appreciated.

Hi I am from SA myself in the UK at present moving back . Good areas to live in would be the Cape area ( western and Eastern) and Pretoria, Port Elizabeth. I would definately say the Cape area is better

There are alot of firms with an international presence ie Delloite, Mercer etc

Coming from the UK you should be able to get work

take a look at career junction to get an idea of what the pay is and what jobs are on offer

PA's can earn anything from R18 000 - R35 000 per month which is roughly 1600 - 3000 pounds per month

Hubby's trade you'll have to look I do however know that they are short on people qualified in trades ie electricians etc.

Aim for big established companies it the same as in the UK same are willing to pay others skrimp :)
