At 3 years old your daughter will be able to start in school in kinder1. My son started 2 weeks ago and loves it!

He is in from 8.30 till 2.30 but there is also an after school club klass 3-16 where you could cover the extra hours you require they also provide the service during school holidays. I beileive its around 1.50 per hour for the service.

Enrolling your duaghter in school is a fairly simple process you will need to get a chest screening from the qormi health centre and then make an appionment with the education department in floriana. They will let you know what documents to take i believe it is:

passports
proof of address
marriage certificate if married
child's birth certificate
and chest screening certificate

If you are married then you both must attend to sign the forms. They will then alert the college that you wish to send your child to their school. You then  make an appointment with them and take along the documents the education department provide you and that's about it all in all it took us around a week to get our son registered and started.

Some schools also provide a breakfast club for parents who start work prior to 8.30. This was for a state school im not sure if the process differs from a religious or private school.

I have just received an excellent email from a childcare, stating the fact that their services are free for working mums. So, I started to.. google and I found the 2014 project of the Governement:

I will be working after I am sure my baby gets registered in the childcare, so I will pay at the beginning. But, I will keep you updated with fees

I love the promptitude I've received very soon another email with fees...
So, as long as I am not working, the childcare costs 2.6 - 3 Eur, depending on the   number of booked hours.
After I will have a payslip, it will be free.
There is also a registration fee and a.... long waiting list.

I've contacted childcare centres from kidsmalta.com.
