Hi I am looking for some advise.

I am in the process of applying for a temporary residency visa(relatives/life partner.

I have asked my local police station in Nottingham UK to witness us signing the affidavit but they have advised they do not do this.

Who can witness this for us?

We already have the form - which we downloaded from online.

Thanks

In South Africa a Commissioner of Oaths (of which all police are) can witness this and also stamo and confirm real copies of documents. Some countries have a Notarius, other some sort of Apostile? Not sure what you have, but someone can surely do it for you.

Hi thanks

Unfortunately my local Police wont help unless its a police matter. Never the Less I found a local solicitor, booked an appointment, Kerry (MY Partner) and I went along with the form printed filled it out and then took an oath after signing the 2 forms (Part 1 & 2) then the solicitor stamped and signed it. Done.

Our Advice to anyone wanting to do this is not to worry its pretty straight forward. Once you find a local commissioner of oaths (police, solicitor or barrister) a as super easy to do.

Time it took: 10 minutes
Cost: £10.00
