Dear,
You could make it by a paid membership or by attaching id proofs but let your site offer advantages in the first go to the selected members which could be saving time for some and getting privileges by others fast. Your idea of sharing something on forum looks ridiculous as this comes out in natural and not artificially creating impression on the selected team. Like, I wanted to contact some italians in new delhi who could do a job for me and I could n't as you couldn't send my message .

Improve.

Paid membership sounds like an atrocious idea.

I agree with you Hailey, I think there are two things that simply don't work in any forum for expats I've seen.

One is the paid memberships which have one of two effects, it makes the forum rather elitist and it also scares off a lot of members. I think it's a horrible idea.

The other is a by invitation only membership, also very elitist. I was a member of another expat forum which was by invitation only and also offered a paid premium membership. I soon asked to have my membership cancelled because Premium Members never ceased to run down anything posted by regular members who weren't required to pay. There was a very clear message sent, if you didn't pay the hefty monthly fee, you just didn't belong. Bad, bad attitude.
