My goal is to acquire a work permit prior to my visit so i can spend at least a few years working in my chosen field of media and marketing.

I would love to make some contacts in Kenya to try and make some inroads into making this happen. Maybe from the expat community? From my research it would seem that I have to have job offer before i can apply for the visa.

Do you know anyone that might be looking for someone with media or marketing experience that i might be able to have a conversation with?

A work permit is about $2000AUD each year or if you have a spare $100,000 in the bank account you'll have no worries. Yes, you have to have a confirmed job before applying. We volunteer for an NGO so had little problems. Media and marketing is a huge thing here. You'll need to do your homework though and maybe try some of the really big NGO's/UN for work or a research company. Generally you can't get a visa for a job that someone here can do unless you have exceptional experience to offer. It's more how you package it than anything.
I can't think of anyone that is on the lookout for someone in this role but the beauty of the online world is that any decent company will have contacts on their websites.
