I am new to this site and if all goes to plan will be moving to Melbourne within the next 12 months. I am looking to build up a social as well as a professional network of people.
I am really excited about eh move and any advice would be most welcome.
I will be in Melbourne for a week at the end of August.

Melbourne as you might be aware has severally been voted the most livable city in the world and for a good reason. I have lived here for over 11 years and can't imagine living anywhere else in Australia and so yes you made the right choice.
There other positive factor about your choice of melbourne is that alot of Australians are migrating to victoria, mainly melbourne due to the employment and investment opportunity that exist here.
melbourne is very vibrant culturally and socially.
Assured your husband that he will be in good company here. Majority of our members are professionals ranging from lecturers/teachers to care workers and in between accountants, investors etc.

First you need to see if you qualify for a visa. For this check out the website All the information and paperwork is on this website.

I do not wish to sound negative but the process can be long and involved. If you have a specialist skill or heaps of qualifications the process could still take 12 months or longer.
