HI MY NAME IS CLAUDIA I LIVE AND RESIDE IN THE UK BUT I AM A CITIZEN OF MALTA.
I WANT TO GO AND GET MARRIED IN MOROCCO IN MARREKESH TO MY NON MUSLIM MOROCCAN FIANCE, I HAVE SEEN THE BLOGS AND COMMENTS HERE AND MOST OF THEM REFER TO MARRIAGE TO A MUSLIM MOROCCAN MALE.
WE ARE BOTH CHRISTIANS AND WANT TO GET MARRIED IN MOROCCO, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THE PROCEDURE WHAT TO DO AND THE PROCESS IF NEITHER OF US ARE MUSLIM? AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE AND WHAT PAPERS DO WE NEED? THANKS
CLAUDIA

you would have to get married as if you married a muslim moroccan, for it to be recognized by Moroccan authority.

If you are both Christians why not get married elsewhere, not in Morocco.

Because he needs to get a visa in order for us to marry elsewhere, he tried to get a schengen visa but because of the type of work he does, temporary seasonal work, they turned it down, so we have to get married in morocco.

I got married twice to a moroccan. The first time I broughed my ex husband with a marriage visa to swiss and got married there. As long as u have a job in uk u can make that marriage visa.my secind marriage with my husband now, I did here in morocco.i would never ever do it in my life again.its to much complicated and it needs a lot of time, patience and money.its much more easier to get married in uk.if u really wanna get married here ask me what exactly u wanna know..

well apparently the visa rules have changed now, because I do want to do it here in the UK, but when my fiance went to ask about the requirements of a marriage visa to come to the UK  they told him he needs a guarantor from the UK, which is me no prob and some form of a guarantee from Morocco like a letter from employer or college which he doesnt have at the moment as he is working in a temp job and his employer doesnt declare his earnings if you know what I mean, so he can't give him a letter and that is the problem we are having, yes, it would be much easier and hassle free to have it done here in the UK if it was possible. thanks for your help and offer.

Ok I understand. It's hard to get married with a forigner. The rules get more and more hard.
Me I went to the ambassy of swiss in morocco or the moroccan ambassy in swiss.so of course for u uk. There u will get a paper with all the papers u need and he need.this is just for uk cause the certificate de matrimonial u need from uk.without that paper no forigner can get married here in morocco it needs about 3month to get it and its about 5500 DH.after u got that u have to move on here.u need more letters which adul can tell u what all u need.at the end about 10different papers.when u have all that u need to go from one bureau to another till all gey accepted.me I needed 6month to do all that.the longest and hardest part was here.the whole month of ramadan we run from one bureau to another.
My english is very badly but I hope u understand what im talking about..

You mention that your fiance is Christian - this shouldn't present any problems with the Moroccan authorities because Christianity is a "recognised" religion in Morocco - along with Judaism. Those of other faiths (meaning non-Muslims/non Jews and non Christians) can't marry in Morocco but Christians and Jews have the right. It's only people of non-Abrahamic faiths who can't marry in Morocco. You would both need to provide some kind of documented evidence of being Christian (for example a letter from your local church or baptism certificate etc) and submit that (with all other necessary paperwork) at the family court in the the city where you wish to marry.

Again, she said non muslim Moroccan fiance. If the fiance was born from moroccan muslim father, he is automatically considered a muslim by law, who can not change his religion, at leat not officially.
if that be the case he and you should not even mention his christianity. yours is fine.
kind of messed up but tha's how it works in almost all muslim countries.
