Is there an Ex-pat hang out in Marrakech?

Post new topic

cabeyp

I am hoping there is a popular meeting point amongst expats?
I'm hoping there is a cafe or other place where people like hanging out and it would be easy to meet other foreigners living here.
In Fes the equivalent seems to be Cafe Clock. You can go there any time of day and be sure to meet talkative and friendly expats sitting there.

Does anything similar exist in Marrakech?

Hey,

Marrakesh is so big and we have a lot of places ( cafés, restaurants etc,,,and you can find english people every where in Marrakech: for exemple you have café Flamme in Guéliz nice place, but you don't know people to start with them conversation and meeting, but it is a nice place for european expat.

Good luck.

Books and friends should be few but good:):):)

I would love to know that as well. I beleive that there is no such a place but I think it will be a great idea to find one. I would suggest to meet in "Cafe de la Poste" in Gueliz, Marrakech. What do you think?

atlaslion

im moving to marakech next week! so id love to join if i can :)

Hi there
I dont know about expat hang outs in Marrakech, but if you are ever in Rabat on a Wednesday or a weekend, do get in touch. I know where the whole expat community hangs out here.

Been here2 years and haven't found a place yet. I do knowthat there isa church that some Britsbelong to and people meet there. That's astep too far for me!!

atlaslion

Then lets arrange a point where we all meet and chill :) simple as that

marion j

Fine with that.

I can highly recommend Cafe de Livre in Guilez as there always seems to be ex-pats in there, enjoying a nice egg and bacon breakfast!

Feel free to get in touch if you'd like any more info on the city,

Andy

Cafe de Livre is nice but it's inside and can get a little stuffy.  The weather is glorious at the moment - or a little hot right now - so we should find somewhere with a terrace.  There are a few cafe's at Marrakech Plaza and the one's at the back are generally shady.

Thanks Andy...will remember that. Good suggestion ..being out side ...what about the English pub at the Hotel Nassim?..Outside space is usually cool and it does a good pint of draught as well as every thing else .

Thanks for all your answers (sorry for the delayed responce, been hanging out in Taghazout for a few days).
Heard of the Cafe Livre, that's actually quite nice.
But a terrasse is always nice.
How about Cafe D'Epice? I quite like that.

We could probably go on for weeks just suggesting places. How about one in Guilez and take it from there. If it works out could do a tour !!!!

You guys try the American Language Center, there is a cafeteria there as far as I remember..and British teachers too.

There is also the Language and Culture Center, there must be somewhere you can meet up and have a chat..

Good luck ;)

Guys, the best place is without doubt Cafe du Livre.  Talk to one of the owners, Sandra or Josh, they know many of the English speaking ex-pats in Marrakech. Monday night is Quiz Night, starting at 7pm sharp.  Next quiz 19 July.  See you there!

Hi all,
The last reply in this topic is from July.
Have you guys had any luck getting together?
I just got to Marrakech, and would like to know if and when you guys hang out.

Thanks
Richard

Hey I'm new to this and want to make friends in Marrakech to meet up for a coffee. A place where we can all hang out and get to know each other sounds fab. Just say where and when and I'm there.

travel2live

I have just move to Marrakech, about 3 weeks ago and feel quite lonely. I am looking for some friends and company. Is there any place where English speakers meet or clubs?

gengero

who's up for a coffe tonight arround 19h at café du livre ??

Ja1981

Hello! Just looking to meet some friendly people around Marrakech. Staying in the medina for a few days.

If you want to know more about me-I'm Irish, play in a band, work as a compliance officer, like socialising. Have just taken quick break to marrakech & then Malta as I've just broken up with girlfriend & trying to clear my head. Sounds dramatic! ;)

hope to hear from you soon.
