Helloooo...

Post new topic

Sunnira

My family and I will soon be transferred to Egypt within few months. We've been living in China for 2.5 years. As all new comers, we had lots of questions but after reading different posts in ths forum, we could clear many of them. Thanks Expapt-Blog :P

There still few things we'd like to understand before discovering there by ourselves. We would be so happy if someone could help us :cool:

In comparison with western european countries, what is the cost of living in Cairo? We usually like to go eat in nice places where there is foreign food (french, italian, thai, ...). We can imagine that these places are not the cheapest ones but we are interested in knowing how much we should reasonably consider to spend per head (diet menu excluded ... hehe ...).

Since we still dot know if my office will be in Kattameya or Tura, we will thinking living in the South of Maadi or in Kattameya Heights. After checking on different websites, we found a bit of everything there :blink:. We are looking for a villa (400/500 sqm) with swimmingpool for rental and we'd like to know in average how much it could represent.

For holidays :joking: on the sea sides, where would be the best places? Is there any critical perods to avoid (cost vs demand)?

Talking about money, is there any limit to transfer money out to foreign countries?

Last but not least, where are the best places for golf? Kattameya Heights? Mirage City? What about golf equipments there? Easy to find? Cheap or expensive?

Well ... We've asked quite a lot ... thanks so much for your replies.

:thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks:

we are french and we are moving to cairo in june. Last week, we went to visit cairo and chose a house. We saw several houses in katameya and finaly we signed for one but the price is quite high. Katameya seems to be a nice place to stay, safe for the kids. the relocation agent told us that there is a another coumpond called Arabella but according to him , there is an issue with water and during summer the price gets really high.
good luck for your search.

I have neighbors from China who have lived in France and Belgium and they tell me one of the things they really like about Egypt is the many choices of different foods, the good quality of the food, and the inexpensive cost.  You can get an idea of some prices by going online, selecting Cairo (or Alexandria, etc.) and looking at the many chices and the costs.  Otlob is a website where you can order food for delivery to your home or office for only a small fee.  The food and choices are always better in the cafe but sometimes it's very nice to not have to cook, drive to somewhere and so on and Otlob is a good choice (and you can also phone most cafes direct if you wish).  Egypt is great and I think you'll enjoy it very much.  Welcome!

Hi Xian,

I'm sure you will love Egypt as we all do. You will find everything you want in Cairo, whatever it is, we have it. When you arrive come and visit me. I am the owner of the Sofitel Maadi Casino, the casino is open 24 hours but I am only here in the evenings.

hello im egyptian and i also was born here ,Egypt is considered very cheap country than any other european country,you can have a nice meal in nice restuarnt for the three of you for ike 200 Pounds.1 euro = 8.50 Pounds
one dollar = 5.50 Pounds,so its cheap and nice here,you will love it,best places for beach is ellain elsokhna its like hour and half from cairo,its the nearest beach,otherwise you have to go to alexandria or north coast where the midterranian is which is like 3 hours driving or may be more.or you can go to sharm or hurdaga which are like one hour flying.....you love it if you stayed in katamya...use yellowpages.com.eg for searching for anything in egypt its very helpful
