Hmm.. Pizza!
I never get a chance to eat the original Italian pizza :D
So I don't know how really it tastes! I ate some from pizza hut and Domino's but I don't like this actually. May be children are the big fan of these kind of stuffs!
I like Vietnamese porridge rather than pizza :D

Charma, Pizza in Italy used to be uniformly bad. This is because it is an Italian regional specialty that took off in the United States, spinning off Regional Italian-American variations such as New York style, Chicago style, etc. Once it became popular in the U.S., it got rediscovered in Italy.

Anyplace that can make good French bread should be able to come up with a decent pizza. Likewise, any place with water buffalo should be able to come up with very high quality mozarella cheese. All you need after that is a decent italian sauce, quality ingredients, and a good fire.

What cooks the pizza is as important as the dough, the sauce, the cheese, and the topings. I prefer wood baked pizzas done in small brick or stone ovens, especially when cooked with guava wood, or hardwood with guava chips to get the scent.

I used to get fairly good pizza in Panama in a restaurant called the Napoli. For a few dollars you a ham, pepperoni and (natural, not canned) mushroom pizza cooked in a wood burning pizza oven. It went down well with the local beer (Balboa, Panama, or HB). That said, the best pizza I ever ate was in Asuncion, Paraguay, followed by Guayaquil Ecuador, both in pizzerias owned by Italian expatriates. But at the Napoli I also got a plate of steamed clams in red or white marinara sauce to accompany the pizza.

With all of Vietnam's culinary expertise, someone must be able to come up with a world class pizza there that is both delicious and uniquely Vietnamese.

I see.
Nice description :D

Pendalsco's make a great pizza :) Italian style not US style...!

I'm originally from Chicago but lived in Italy for a few years.  IMO Chicago pizza is delicious, but not "real" pizza.  Domino's and Pizza Hut are to pizza what McDonalds is to a proper hamburger, i.e. a sub-standard, cheap imitation of the real thing.  The best pizzas I have ever eaten were made in Tokyo where there are a couple of places that have won the annual Italian pizza-making contests.  The best pizza I have had in Vietnam is at Luna d'Autunno on the beach at Hoi An--crispy, thin crust, excellent tomato sauce, tasty toppings.  (They also have a branch in Hanoi).

Pizza 4P is good. Just a bit different from American style. For some reason I think its healthier. It can be a hit or miss if you are not use to some of the unique toppings. But it is one of the best pizza places in town. Nice place for dinner after their expansion.

My vote is for Domino's.
2 for Tuesday can't be beat. Only it's 250 calories a slice,
and one slice is never enough.

Pizza 4P has the best pizzas in town and certainly ranked up there in the world. I have stayed in Rome for 3 years, so can say that I have tasted some of the best. You will need advance reservation for pizza 4P especially on weekends. Ironically, Pizza 4P is Japanese owned and serve some Japanese flavoured pizza. But I stick with traditional Pizza Margharita or four cheese and they are really yummy.

mab0918

Yes! For those who haven't tried Pizza 4P's, you should try it.
My only advice is make reservation before going there especially fri, sat. And sunday.

If you guys want a New York style pizza. Just go to Espy pizza 154 Cống Quỳnh, Phạm Ngũ Lão ward. They sell pizza by the slice :)

aibiet150204

4P is great but it seems Japanese pizza?!?

perry88

New York pizza is the best.  Chicago-style is not real pizza.

I also would recommend ESPY for NY pizza, very tasty slices, clean location, friendly staff.

4P in my opinion does one of the best Italian style pizzas in town and they also make their mozzarella by themselves.

VungTauDon

Best i've had is David's Pizza in Vung Tau. Real wood fired brick oven is very nice

What is the price of the pizzas? :)

Whoa.

That would be the same as saying phở, buÌn chả, and buÌn boÌ€ HuÃªÌ are "used to be uniformly bad" in Vietnam, until the counterparts served in Vietnamese restaurants in the U.S. became popular, then the dishes were rediscovered in their original birthplace.
