Hi,

Been finding it difficult to get hold of mushrooms in the supermarkets (not a big fan of the jars of pickled ones).

Was wondering if it's possible to get hold of fresh ones?
Or alternatively how easy is it to grow them out here? What are the best species for the Rio climate? Where can I buy the Spores and equipment?

Any help would be appreciated.

In Zona sul in rio, it's usually possible to find several kinds of mushrooms.

Growing them in this climate might be a problem.

Hi Joe,

You will probably find fresh mushrooms at the Mercado Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Rua Capit茫o F茅lix, 110 聳 Benfica 聳 Rio de Janeiro, RJ.

Really, fresh mushrooms for some reason aren't really a popular item in supermarkets. I don't know if it is a result of the high prices or if so few people actually buy them the spoil in the produce section. Even the local fruit and vegetable markets don't usually carry them.

If you can't find them at the Mercado Municipal then I'd suggest you go to a local pizzaria and ask where they get theirs.
