Moving to Romania with no degree or experience

JTyzzer

I am looking into moving to Romania from the UK. I have a pretty limited knowledge of the language, but I'm slowly learning more. I don't have any working experience, and I don't have a degree, but my school grades were good. I was wondering if it would be possible to  find any work there under these circumstances?

Thanks,

Jamie

Not very easily, to be honest. Switch it around and ask yourself where an immigrant to the UK would find a job if they had no qualifications, no experience and couldn't speak English. Then add onto that that Romania is more economically depressed. In some other countries you might find 'expat' work which doesn't require language skills, like working in expat bars and restaurants or stuff like that, but Romania doesn't really have a big enough or cohesive enough expat community for such things. Where in Romania were you planning on living?

I'm guessing you didn't just randomly pick Romania as your target country and that you already know someone here. She would probably be your best bet for finding something. Unless you're applying for corporate jobs, most jobs here are found by word-of-mouth and recommendation. She might have a friend or relative with a company who could use a hand and could work around the lack of language skills (lots of Romanians speak English to some degree these days) and get you something to get you on your feet.

Just had to post a reply because the above post made me laugh out loud - literally!

Love the assumption made there. He has to be coming to Romania because of a girl...:D
