How Active the Member is?

I reckon it would be great if we could find about the activeness of the member is the site.
There are many who have just signed up but after never log into their account.
This is networking or more precisely information site, so that,
if we could know about the status like when did they last signed in,
we could be enlightened about whom to contact for the info.
If someone has been inactive for over a month, it does not make
any sense in contacting them.

Hi Rohit,
You make some points.
1). Yes, there are many folks who open an account here and never post. They are not expats.
It does not bother me, and if it's good for the business owner to have inactive forummers, it's good for me too.
2). Yes, this is networking on a shoestring. Potential expats have the possibility to get in touch with expats who already live where they (the potentials) want to go.
Without such expat forum, it would cost US$50 - $100 for potential expats to place ads in local newspapers.
3). You can see how many posts a forummer here has from the number under the member's picture/avatar.
To see the member's posting frequency and the last time he posted, just click on his name/alias.
My approach is to reply to some posts or open new threads myself and see if someone comments on it.
4). Perhaps it's a good idea for members without posts to be deleted after say 6 months. If this forum were my business, I would most likely do it like that, but since it's not, whatever management does it's OK with me.
I wonder how many such members are and how many problems inactive members cause to the server.
Members with no posts are not the only concern. There have been many forummers here in the past and they stopped coming back.
If there had been major problems with inactive accounts, I am sure the owner of this forum would have done something by now.
Members, active or not, and expats or not, members must understand this is also a business not only a cyber playground for adults.
5). I for one am here only for whatever humor I can get. Where I live I cannot get people in my profession to talk to something which is disheartening at times, and I consider that talking to expats or potential expats and if I can be of help it's fine with me.
I already met 3 members of this forum in person in 2010 who came for work here in the island.

The advertisement cost is as per the hit not the number of members. So, the dormant members are most possibly just wasting the valuable web space.

Yes, you are exactly right on the cost, but if the webmaster fails to look into these matter urgently, it won't be long time forward that this website will be a piece of junk as well, as I am planning to move to Japan and I keep posting some topic but rarely get any response, which has started to bring a bit of frustration and I am quite I am not the only one to feel this way.

But this is not networking site, this is information site, where everyone should be active to share the view or just delete their account and make other people easy to scan the info they want.
4. You are right about the time frame. As per cyber playground, I would like to say, its absolutely not. In this world of information technology, there are millions of other fun website. This website is serious and will provides lots of information to us and higher profit to its entrepreneur if they run it more diligently. I can even see the picture folder, any sort of pin and point is being uploaded and given green light by the invigilator. There are to be certain standard in pictures that are being uploaded, quality and composition at the least has to be considered.
I am planning to move to Japan next October, so, I am here with total motivation of getting as much information as possible about Japan.
Thank you very much Sir and I must say you are one of the very active person in this website and I love reading your posts which are the combination of good thoughts and humor. If something is wrong, please pardon me, as I types this from my workplace using my hand technology, so to say, Mobile.

Hi Rohit,
Thank you for the kind words.
You just confirmed what I said all along: I am ALWAYS interested to have a conversation with above average quality people.
With regards to info on Japan or making contacts or meeting expats over there, this forum may get more members from that area, plus you can search for them in cyber-space. Everything is in motion and things change in one place to go change another place.
A basic search on yahoo for 'forums in japan' reveals tons of info.
I wish you good luck and inspiration to get what you want.Â
John, please, it is the EB Team's job (and my job) to reply on the "help us to improve the website". This is really serious, this forum is a support forum and you can't reply for us.
You don't know the community as we do, so please let us reply to our members. Sorry about this (and no offense) but your reply contains mistakes and other things what will never happen here, because they just don't make sense.
By the way ½ûÂþÌìÌà is not only a forum !

Agreed. Points taken.Â

I'll reply to rohit very soon

Hi Julien,Â
I am flattered by your worry and I do the best I can not to disrupt the flow of your business.
This is reflected even in the posts at this thread. However, mistakes happen even when I am nice.
I am concerned about the improvement of this web site and when I say something it's because I think at what would I do if such business were mine. I even discovered something which, I think, will be veeeeerrry useful to you. I am going to PM you in 1 minute.Â
DISCLIAMER: never think that I would like to go into other business that I am already in and start expat web sites.Â
Please correct me when I am wrong and always give me the chance to explain why I thought I was correct. Â

When I reached Julien's post in this thread, I realized that- 1. John was not from EB team, &Â 2. his style of humor...
& Julien's predicament at reading the thread combined with his respect and value for Jhon's contributions....
& I had long hearty uncontrollable laughter !!
Good show john ;-)Â & Julien your reply made the humor so vibrantly humanely alive !!
