Hello Forum Members,
It has been a month that I am here in Khartoum.
Apart from other things the biggest challenge here is language. As it is written somewhere else in forum that the old generation understands English but not the new generationÂ…it holds true. In my experience the young generation donÂ’t even understand the basic English.
I am trying to learn Arabic so that I can converse with taxi (called Amjad in local lingo) person, in super markets and similar kind of people.
For this I did a lot of Googling and found something which can be of use to many. Posting the website addresses , a lot of thanks to original writers.
One more thing to note here is that Sudanese Arabic is different than the Standard Arabic, so any book which teaches us Standard Arabic will not be of much use in Sudan. Sudanese use the alphabets of modern Arabic as used in other Arabic speaking countries but pronunciation of some alphabets is different than the standard Arabic pronunciation. So anyone who tries to learn Arabic alphabets should know these differences so as not to get confuse . ( please also see the Egyptian's explanation just below ....)

This website is very good and worth visit. 24 chapters are there. Though I still have to read many
of them but the initial chapters which I have read are very comprehensive.
