Curious about Salons in PR

Post new topic

kel&rich

I am a licensed hair stylist in North Carolina, USA. Does anyone know what the requirements are for stylists in PR? Would I simply be able to transfer my current license? Are there any franchise salons(such as Great Clips) as apposed to commission/booth rental salons? As I obviously can't bring my clientele with me, I would be starting from scratch. Do the WalMart stores there have salons in them like they do here on the mainland?

Lots of questions, I know but any information would be greatly appreciated.

I also have experience in web design.
My Spanish is rather minimal since I have not used it a lot but I could brush back up pretty quickly. I can read Spanish though.

I'll check with my daughter who is a licensed stylist - she'll be back in PR later this week..

San Juan would have a lot of salon and a lot of tourist from the states but it cost more to live and its to big for me.You
need ti find a telephone book from down thre and call the salons. If you are good you can probally many places to work.
I wish you good luck. Don Jr.

Sorry it took so long but here's the info that my daughter provided.
For your license you should bring your beauty school diploma, your credits, your current license. Based upon that the stylist commission will decide if you get a license or have to take an exam before they issue a license.

Yes there are franchise salons. Great Clips isn't in PR but f.i. Super Cuts have franchise salons here.
Walmart doesn't have salons here on the island.

I hope this helps. :)
