Hi
I've been in Qatar for coming up for 2 years now. One of the frustrations I have is finding out whats going on.
For example I know that the MIA, Museum of Islamic Art in Doha has a market in the first weekend of the Month. But I can't find out anything for this weekend which is the first weekend in March.
Can any one help. Is it on? And if so, is it on Friday or Saturday?
Hi,
In fact you talk about the monthly MIA park bazaar check this out () it's each first Saturday of the month.
Stay tuned to and to have updates on incoming events.
Cheers !

Moved to Doha from a 2 acre plot of land in the Canadian Rockies.......don't need to say too much more there.
I am a Clinical Massage Therapist that came over to work at a local hospital, but the position never really worked out. Doing some small bits with the U of Calgary, Weill Cornell and CNAQ, and hoping for a role in the Anatomy/Physiology instruction area for next term at U of C....waiting on word that it is a go. So far have enjoyed the beaches (?) here and the ocean for SCUBA and just playing. Another nice thing is that Doha is only a few hours from everywhere, nice change that a short plane flight will take you to several different countries.....more exploring to do again soon.
Hi Everyone,
My name is Nathan and I'll be moving to Doha in about 3-4 months. I'll be working at ASPETAR in the Aspire Zone.
Hope to learn more about life in doha so I can figure out a good place to live. I'm married but with no kids. I'm Australian and my wife is Argentinian so we'll be looking to meet lots of new people when we arrive :-)
Ciao
Hello All,
Am member some months back just not had chance to introduce myself before, so here I am - my name is Ann. Been living in Qatar for long 8 years now. I am an accountant by career, I had my university education in Economics though. First few years in Qatar has been a full enthusiasm and enjoyment looking around what's in the place and it's like - it's great fun. This is my first job abroad and very far away from home. I hope to meet new people to be friends with. I like camping, outdoor and water sports ....anyone here into badminton - would be nice to play with you peeps , beach, singing - videoke actually or just simply home and chill watching television.
Cheers!
Hi all,
I am planning on moving to Doha in August as I have received a job offer at a school there. Very nervous as I am moving on my own so not sure what it's like in terms of making new friends and socialising,
Also are there any teachers on the forum who could provide an insight in to what it's like working in schools there?
Thanks

I grow up here in qatar i born in sudan my dad worked over 50 years as teacher educate many of many generation
My dad told me i could find job here in qatar live happy but i was really very disappointed as i graduated from American University i did in India with BS engineering i had tried apply everywhere i mean everywhere evn though i know 2 languages and i speak 3rd i was unempolyee for 2 years and half than i had my high school friend who happened to work in call center company and he told me to go for interview with his help i worked there
than after 4 month My dad has met guy who happened to be the PRO of company which I'm working with them now
as they promise to increase the salary after the company pickup after the company has growth they only increase the Egyptian who happened to work in this company salaries for Us they didn't do it as it suppose we had objected and spoke to CEO he had made some recommendation , i had work and in mean time to apply for others i had change my CV like 20 times to get job I'm still stuck in this company with same salary as i have 5 years experience in IT technical support as they give me this position just to keep me but i had force with my degree to give me IT engineering on my passport .

You can't bring family to Qatar unless you make more then QR10,000 about USD2500. I maybe wrong, check on the Qatar Ministry of Interior website for exact details.
As for USD 1000 (QR3,600), it depends on the job and where you choose to live. Housing, food and transportation is expensive here.
Thank you DINSKY, but if a person want to bring his wife on tourist visa and she find a job for herself. Then govt can allow them to be live in Qatar. I want k we waive there in Qatar for at least 6-12 months.
Please ans,

Chandrashekhar, 1000$ means almost 3600 QR. you have to pay minimum 2500qr as rent for a single room flat. transportation is very costly here. and not less than 500 qr for your grocery items.
Hey, I just flew in 2 weeks back from Canada. The word ASPIRE caught my eye. It's some sort of sports complex I presume. Can you help me understand how the system works there?
What is the average taxi cost around doha?
I am moving in august to doha and will be looking for accommodation near salwa road south, are there any particular compunds you can suggest i look at?
What are the utility bills like in doha in a single flat?
Thanks
