Not In TPHCM

I'm Not In TPHCM for a reason.  Numerous reasons.

Temperature and humidity might measure the same but Saigon is the only place I've ever been where I felt like sitting down and just not getting up.  Walk around a corner and the building cuts off a breeze so faint I wasn't even aware of it and the sweat starts to bead up over my whole head.  And then I see a woman covered up like a Muslim in Saudi Arabia cooking before a 30,000 BTU flame and wonder how the hell she can stand it.

The traffic is insane.  It takes an hour to get from any place to any other place.  It's like being in a hailstorm.  Nobody yields, everyone pushes, left turns interleave with oncoming, it's nuts.

The pollution.  Exhaust is bad enough, but with so many people smoking in so small an area the entire city smells like an ashtray, all the time.

Summer is the rainy season, it's actually cooler than winter, and just after a rain you get a precious few minutes of relatively cool air but the temperature starts to climb immediately.

I don't go to Saigon much.

Feel like I"m gonna be fried chick now

oh, I just moved to Saigon 3 weeks ago from Hanoi, and yeah, Saigon welcomes me with its horrible heat =]]] Its in the winter time in Hanoi, just rain and coldness, so I was really excited when I got here, I enjoyed the sun so much that some people think Im not VNese now =)) My skin turned dark quickly and its just weird when I told some expats Im new to this city and they said: yeah I know, ur from Philippines =]]]]]]]]]

Saigon is 'nothing' when we think about other cities.
Enjoy this summer and know the power of sun  :D

another 2 months and it'll be cool down but hot still.

Not In TPHCM

Before the rain comes the heat... I hate it when it is like this but it does make me appreciate the rain.

Mah favorite time ever in Saigon is December. I wish every months in a year feel like December XD

Good_Man

I'll take the heat of Saigon over the cold of the northern US any day of the week. When I left in February an arctic express dropped temperatures to a daily HIGH of -8C. Trust me there is no escaping the cold. Also spend 3 weeks in China where the temperature was warmer (9C for the high) but very few building have heat so it is always cold. Imagine sticking your head inside your freezer and close the door as much as possible. The first few minutes feel refreshing, but after an hour or so its not so comfortable any more.. hehehehe

The cold is one thing, but with record snowfall this year is another. Snow is pretty to look at, but after a few hours or days after the snow falls it looks like crap, it freezes and becomes like concrete and there is no joy it trying to get around.

The one thing about the heat is you can always take clothes off, but once you are cold and chilled to the bone there is no warming up until spring. So forgive me if I do not share your dislike for the hot days of Saigon.

Nóng !! Nóng !! Nóng !! If the heat come with winds, ok it's fine but Saigon now is only the heat without winds  :sosad:

:lol::lol:   That's because you're real name is Chris Fox  - and as usual, you're using another fake I.D.

Once again you've been caught out and BANNED !

Congratulations to the monitors for getting rid of him (yet again)  :top:

As others, particularly expats here will already know, he's been banned from nearly every other expats site going many times over, including this site on many occasions with full justification, because of his self-serving and insulting attitudes towards other, expats and Vietnamese alike.

He is a recurring serial pest of the worst type that never quite seems to go away - like cockroaches.

Unfortunately he just can't take the 'hint' and keeps trying to sneak back in again using fake I.D's.

He will undoubtedly try to sneak back in again - and will undoubtedly be caught out and banned again.

To the ever vigilant monitors - CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE AGAIN !  :thanks:

Yes it is hot for us coming from the far Northlands ...
Do your business in the morning and back home by 9:30am.
Then back out in the evening.
Keep protected, drink water. Find and sit in the breezy shady spots.
You will soon (maybe a couple years) become (more) use to the heat.

Why are you giving comments on old threads and make us confused?? :/

Namaste chu jc oi,

Since your intentions were to help, I thank you for sharing!

However, Mal might also have a point as this thread was about a specific period with high heat wave early last year (in case you weren't around, it was daily 40' during day and no lower than 25-28'C at night)

So I think the thread can be archived.

Cheers
